Cool Girls Salutes Magnolia Links, Inc. for Volunteer Service and Commitment!

In October, Magnolia Links, Inc. Atlanta Chapter and Cool Girls participants visited Washington, DC as the highlight to its Facets Service Learning Program. The Facets Service Learning Program is a two-year program designed to help girls recognize the dramatic changes to their communities and its impact on national trends. As a part of the program, volunteers from Magnolia Links, Inc. developed innovate and educational activities that allowed Cool Girls participants to develop good public speaking skills and the ability to facilitate positive change in their communities.

During the two-day bus trip to Washington, 18 Cool Girls participants visited Congressman John Lewis' office where they received a personal tour of the Capitol. The girls also toured the DC monuments and visited two historic African-American universities - Hampton University and Howard University.

Other Facets activities have included an oratorical contest, the Women of SCLS's Civil Rights Heritage Tour, and a special keynote address by Ambassador Andrew Young.

Cool Girls thanks the Magnolia Links for helping to self-empower girls.
