Cool Girls welcomes volunteers in all of its programs. Volunteer opportunities include:
Cool Scholars (Tutorial Program) - volunteers work in small groups with elementary and middle school girls, using a structured curriculum to increase reading, writing, math and test-taking skills.
Cool Girls Club (Life Skills Development Modules) - volunteers present "modules" that help develop important life skills. Topics include health, wellness, nutrition, pregnancy prevention, and team building. Volunteers receive specific training for each module.
Cool Tech (Technology and Communication Program) - this program helps to prepare girls for the marketplace of the future by teaching them how to use technology to enhance their skills in money management, communications and career development.
Cool Sisters (Mentoring Program) - in this one-to-one mentoring program, volunteers are matched with a Cool Girls participant who has participated in our after-school programs for at least one year. Volunteers are trained and supported by our professional staff.
Cool Biz (Summer Entrepreneurship Program) - this week-long summer program is an "economic self-empowerment camp" for girls age 10-12. Volunteers have the opportunity to work with girls in small groups to help them learn about entrepreneurship and other economic and money management concepts.
Field Trips are an important component of our program. Field trips provide girls with exposure to the broader world outside of their neighborhoods. Destinations include museums, cultural events, parks and "just for fun" activities like movies and amusement parks. Field trips take place twice a month on Saturdays.
