Since 1997, "Cool Girls Become Cool Women" has been the organization's marquee event. During the event, Cool Girls presents the Founders Award to a volunteer for his/her long-standing commitment to the organization and the Achievement Award to a Cool Girls participant for setting a standard of excellence. Event guests enjoy a silent auction, hor d'oeuvres and entertainment. The highlight of the evening is a keynote presentation by an accomplished leader who embodies what we hope our program participants will become. The 2006 Event was our most spectacular ever with Emmy-Award winning Actress Alfre Woodard delivering the keynote address. Past speakers have included Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole, President of Bennett College, Susan L. Taylor, editorial director for Essence magazine, and author Gail Evans.
