Meet Ayana Barry-Buchanan. During our Hot Pink Party, this young woman was honored as our Cool Girl of the Year. We were excited to recognize Ayana for her incredible accomplishments as a Cool Girls alumnae. Ayana is currently studying Organizational Development at Vanderbilt University. She is confident, generous, and a wonderful role model and mentor for the next generation of Cool Girls. Ayana was recognized along with our Cool Woman of the Year, CeCe Winans, our Pink Empowerment Award Honoree, Keshia Knight Pulliam, and our Volunteer of the Year, Shelley D. Nelson.

“I think that Cool Girls taught me to believe in myself, to really know what I stand for, to become a better “me” and to understand that I can do anything I set my heart on,” said Ayana.

She is Atlanta’s Future…If Only

She is Atlanta’s Future…If Only

  • 30,000 girls in Atlanta did not live in poverty.
  • Girls found their voices to refuse abuse and advocate for themselves and others.
  • Girls excelled in science, technology and math education.
  • Girls played sports and built healthy eating habits from a young age.
  • Girls received individualized mentorship from a caring adult.
  • Girls had resources to break cycles of unwanted pregnancy.

Cool Girls has turned these “if onlys” into realities for over 4,000 girls since 1989.
We provide nine holistic programs where girls receive the support they need to succeed, for no charge. Ever. Donate today.
