“As a child growing up in my neighborhood, I was never encouraged to do anything with my life. Then, in 1989, I found Cool Girls. I was nine years old. As an original participant of the Cool Girls programs, I was taught that there was more to life than what I was seeing – things that I may never have known. It was through Cool Girls that I met my Cool Sister. She believed in me when no one else did…. I believe in giving back to the organization that has given me so much. The prospect of paying for a college education is daunting to a family with few financial resources. For Cool Girls this is especially true. Our programs give girls the guidance, motivation and support to graduate high school and matriculate onto college. We want to be there for our girls to support them financially as well. In 2000, The Cool Girls Scholarship fund was established to support girls who have completed our after school program and are recent high school graduates. Girls interested in applying for a Cool Girls academic scholarship should submit an application and essay.
Each year, we review the applications of girls who have benefitted from our after school programs and have changed the family dynamic by graduating from high school and aspiring to attend college.

Recent high school graduates interested in applying for the Cool Girls Scholarship Fund must meet the following criteria: Be a Cool Girls after school program alumnae Be a Cool Girls volunteer during high school Meet minimum cumulative grade point average requirements Submit an essay and application Have demonstrated financial need
